The Institute Health Policy and Development Studies is a network of health professionals and policy analysts with a mission to serve as the lending exponent for an integrative approach in health policy research analysis, development, capacity building and advocacy towards the search for the common good.
The Institute is an active key player in the development of health policy and related public policy. As a policy broker, it continues to organize policy for a medium where policy decision makers and stakeholders can come together to form a consensus on critical policy issues. The research activities of the Institute seek to provide updated and accessible information that will inform health policy making and program planning in a timely manner. The advocacy activities of the Institute aim to package and bring vital information to targeted key policy stakeholders. In doing all these, the Institute becomes an active player of the health policy change cycle.
Our Key Performance Areas
- Organize and develop a critical mass of expertise of health policy experts
- Coordinate local and regional researches and data bases to identify priority policy research/ development issues.
- Develop and maintain a data bank of:
- basic health policy and health management information;
- major research findings and recommendations, policy recommendations, legislative proposals, enacted legislation, position papers and of current bibliography and references for health policy and management studies;
- regional health and health services statistics and related information.
- Keep the different publics, legislators and health professionals well informed about current health policy and management issues through regular and timely publications and advocacy strategies.
- Develop effective inter-organizational networks.
- Provide expert consultancy services to health care organizations and health policy stakeholders.
- Organize and provide short term training courses in health policy development and health services management.
- Market research, consultancy and training programs and capabilities of the institute in health policy and management.
- Respond to policy formulation and review needs of different policy stakeholders.
